Shrijana Ghimire, psychologist at Bhatta Psychotherapy Kathmandu

Psychologist

MA, Clinical Psychology · BSc Nursing

Psychologist · Counselor

Hello, I am Shrijana. My journey into mental health began with a foundation in both medical and psychological sciences — a BSc in Nursing and an MA in Clinical Psychology from Tribhuvan University. That dual background helps me understand people holistically, not only from a psychological lens.

I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and counseling. In our sessions I focus on a safe, supportive, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and empowered to grow — whether you face anxiety, depression, stress, relationship struggles, or other challenges.

I balance scientific knowledge with genuine empathy, adapting therapy to your story for short-term relief and long-term resilience. I am committed to making professional, ethical, compassionate care more accessible in Nepal.

GoogleAbout the practice

The atmosphere at Bhatta Psychotherapy is warm and inviting, making it easy to open up about personal struggles. I was initially nervous about seeking therapy, but the staff made me feel comfortable from the start. They listened attentively and provided insightful feedback that helped me understand my feelings better. The sessions have been incredibly beneficial, and I now feel more equipped to handle stress and anxiety. I can't recommend Bhatta enough for anyone seeking mental health support.

Is Shrijana the right person for you?

Fit matters more than credentials. Read both lists honestly — if the second one describes your situation, you deserve the right help rather than the nearest help, and we will say so.

Likely a good fit

  • Adults with anxiety, low mood or depression who want structured, practical work
  • People under sustained stress — work, study, family or health
  • Teens from 14 and young adults, including school and university pressure
  • Relationship difficulties, including individual work when your partner is not ready
  • Clients who prefer a clinician with both nursing and clinical psychology training
  • Anyone who wants to start gently and is nervous about therapy

We would point you elsewhere

  • Anyone in immediate danger or active crisis — that needs emergency services tonight, not an appointment
  • People who need medication management only — a psychiatrist is the right first call
  • Children under 14
  • Court-ordered or forensic assessments, which we do not provide
  • Complex trauma needing specialist paced work — within the practice this is usually Damber's area
  • Active substance dependence needing medical detox — that comes first, and therapy afterwards

Two things worth knowing before you decide

We are psychologists, not psychiatrists. That means we do not prescribe medication. Where medication looks worth considering, we say so plainly and refer to a psychiatrist — and the therapy continues alongside it if you want it to.

Therapy is not emergency care. If you are in immediate danger, a crisis line will reach someone tonight; a therapy waiting list will not.

In Nepal, call the TUTH suicide hotline on 1166. Outside Nepal, use your local emergency number.

Still unsure whether this is the right service? Find your therapy path compares the options, or ask a question on WhatsApp before committing to anything — we typically reply within one business day.

Sessions take place in person at Anurag Marg, Kathmandu 00182, Nepal and by secure video worldwide.
