This guide summarizes how teen psychotherapy works at Bhatta Psychotherapy in Kathmandu and online — for parents and adolescents considering support without shame or gossip.

Teens face exam pressure, social media comparison, identity questions, and family conflict — often while adults tell them they have “easy lives.” Therapy offers a private space to sort what is normal stress vs. what needs help.

Who we see

Adolescents aged 14–17. Under 14: Kanti Children’s Hospital pediatric psychiatric OPD. Young adults 18+ typically use individual psychotherapy services.

Issues we often address

  • School refusal, grades, SEE/grade 12 exam pressure
  • Anxiety, mood swings, self-harm thoughts
  • ADHD-like focus, sleep, and procrastination
  • Family conflict — divorce, remarriage, strict rules
  • Bullying, friendship drama, and social media stress
  • Identity, sexuality questions, and future career fear

Confidentiality — what parents should know

Sessions are private for the teen. Parents are involved when safety requires it (self-harm, abuse) or when the teen agrees. We explain limits clearly at the start — teens trust therapy when it is not a spy mission for parents.

Online vs in-person for teens

Some teens prefer online from their room; others want in-person away from home. Both work when privacy is protected — headphones, closed door, no recording.
